Floods, landslides kill 111, depart 37 lacking

5 October, Kathmandu. As many as 111 people have been killed in floods and landslides caused by incessant rains a few days ago.

According to the police headquarters, 37 people are still missing. The floods killed 65 people in Pari, 1 in Bagmati, 2 in Gandaki, 4 in Lumbini, 7 in Karnali and 32 in Far-Western.

A total of 42 people were injured across the country, according to police. As many as 37 people have gone missing in the floods, including 11 in Pari 1, one in Lumbini and Karnali, and 23 in Far-Western.

The search for the missing continues. The floods inundated 2,232 houses and damaged 78 houses, 16 cowsheds, six bridges, a school and three government offices. A total of 186 animals have died.

One thousand 188 families have been displaced during the period. Police said that work is underway to keep the people of different districts at risk of floods and landslides in a safe place.
