Nepal misplaced to Indonesia in a pleasant fit

Kathmandu. Nepal U-23 national football team defeated Indonesia U-23 national team 2-0 in a friendly match.

Nepal, who are touring Tajikistan for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers, played a goalless draw in the first half.

Nepal scored both goals in the second half of the match played at Gasar Central Stadium in Tajikistan.

Nepal played a friendly match against Indonesia in preparation for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Nepal, in Group B, will play Iran, Tajikistan and Lebanon. Nepal will play its first match against Iran on Monday, October 25.

Head coach Bal Gopal Maharjan has formed a 23-member team comprising six players from the national team. Besides, five other players who have already played for the national team are also in the team.

The coach hopes that Nepal will do well in the selection this time as the team has about half the experience of the national team.

There are a total of 11 groups in the selection. The top team from each group will be selected in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup. The best four teams from the second place will also be selected in the U-23 Asian Cup.

The host Uzbekistan has already been selected.
