Baitadi, Nov. 25: The death toll from floods and natural calamities has risen to 35 in the far-western states including Baitadi. Thirty-five people have so far died in the state due to the disaster caused by incessant rains since September 16.
Floods and inundation have caused the most human damage in the far west. At least 16 people have been killed in Doti district. According to the Far Western Provincial Police Office, 10 people died in Bajhang, four in Baitadi, three in Dadeldhura, one each in Achham and Kailali.
As many as 23 people are still missing in the state due to the disaster. There are 20 missing persons in Bajhang and one each in Baitadi, Doti and Kailali. Seventeen people have been injured in the incident. Eleven people were injured in Doti, two in Dadeldhura, two in Baitadi and one each in Bajhang and Bajur. More than 100 animals have died and more than 60 are missing in Bajura, Doti, Dadeldhura, Bajhang and other districts. The landslide completely damaged 12 houses in Bajhang, six in Doti and two in Dadeldhura. Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army have rescued 430 people out of 216 houses inundated due to the floods.
