Kathmandu: Children from 6 months to five years of age are being given vitamin A capsules and anti-parasitic drugs today and tomorrow (Sunday and Monday) across the country. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, children from 6 to 59 months of age will be given vitamin A capsules and children from 12 to 59 months of age will be given worm medicine.

The government has requested to take its children to the designated vaccination centers in every ward across the country and give them vitamin A and anti-parasitic drugs. The government has been feeding vitamin A on 3rd and 4th of October every year.

Ramakanta Baral has been elected unopposed as the president of Gandaki Pradesh Higher Education and Secondary School Association (HISAN). The first general assembly and convention of the association held in Pokhara on Saturday evening elected a 13-member provincial committee under his chairmanship. Dr. Ramji Sharma (Kaski), Vice-Chairman Chhavilal Kandel (Nawalpur), Secretary Dr. Punya Prasad Poudel (Kaski), Treasurer Rajendra Mani Poudel (Kaski), Joint Secretary Balakrishna Sharma (Baglung) and Co-Treasurer Pratap Koirala (Nawalpur) were elected as senior vice-chairmen of the working committee. Similarly, Kamal Raj Sapkota (Kaski), Lilanath Kafle (Tanahu), Janak KC (Gorkha), Dhan Bahadur Thapa (Kaski), Lilavati Pradhan (Kaski) and Deepak Sharma Marasini (Syangja) are among the members.

Sher Bahadur Gurung, Surya Bahadur GC, Baburam Pant, Dolaraj Pandey, Gopendra Keshari Neupane and Prakash Sharma Poudel were selected as advisors. Dr. Tribhuvan Sharma Poudel is the invited member, said Hisan Central Vice President Sher Bahadur Gurung.

Newly elected chairperson Baral expressed his commitment to work for the investment protection of private schools and colleges and maintaining the quality of education. The first state convention of Hisan was inaugurated by Gandaki Chief Minister Krishnachandra Nepali Pokhrel.
