On Sunday and Monday, children between the ages of six months and five years are being given vitamin A capsules and parasite medicine across the country.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, children between the ages of 6 and 59 months will be given vitamin A capsules and children between the ages of 12 and 59 months will be given anti-parasitic drugs on Sunday and Monday.
The government has requested to take its children to the designated vaccination centers in every ward across the country and give them vitamin A and anti-parasitic drugs. The government has been feeding vitamin A on 3rd and 4th of October every year.
200 mg for one to two year old children and 400 mg for two to five year old children will be given alvendazole (worm) medicine. The worm medicine will be taken by 2.4 million children.
The government has been running the Vitamin A program since 2050 BS to reduce the risk of health complications and malnutrition in children from six months to 59 months.
The worm medicine has been given since 2056 BS. It is said that 25,000 health workers and 52,000 women health volunteers will be mobilized to run the ‘National Vitamin A’ program.
