Boat capsizes in Mahakali: one killed, one lacking

Kathmandu. One person has died and another is missing after a boat capsized in the Mahakali River. The deceased has been identified as Meena Saud, 13, of Shivnath Village Municipality-1.

Similarly, Sandeep Saud, 8, of Shivnath-1 has gone missing, said Police Spokesperson Inspector Darshan Khadka. A boat carrying 10 people capsized at Shivnath-1 Khandghat on the Mahakali River on Wednesday evening.

Meena’s and Sandeep’s body was found on the bank of the Mahakali River at around 7.30 am on Thursday. The search for the missing Sandeep is underway.

Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been mobilized for the search. The other eight people aboard the boat are safe, according to the District Police Office.

Shivnath and Pancheshwor villages are connected to India and when there is no bridge to go to India, they go to the Mahakali river by boat.
The cause of the accident could not be ascertained and the incident is being investigated.
