7 arrested in Nirmala Kurmi disappearance case

October 22, Kathmandu. Seven persons have been arrested in connection with the disappearance of Nirmala Kurmi of Nepalgunj.

Ramesh Thapa, Parvati Bista, Krishna Murari Singh, Urmila Kanojia, Amarlal Kurmi, Dhirendra Singh and Kunwar Baban Singh have been arrested on the basis of the Kitani case.

According to SP Shyam Adhikari of the District Police Office, Banke, the district court said that Baban Singh was released on bail as he was 80 years old. Former MP Badshah Kurmi, mentioned in the Kitani complaint, was released by the court after appearing at the public prosecutor’s office in Bhadou to find out more, the official said.

The government had formed an investigation committee to investigate the case after human rights activists staged a sit-in in Kathmandu. The police has conducted investigation based on the recommendation given by the committee.
