5-party alliance till subsequent election: Rastriya Janamorcha

23 October, Kathmandu. The Rastriya Janamorcha has said that the current ruling coalition should continue till the next election.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Vice-Chairperson Durga Poudel said that the CPN-UML was likely to try to amend the constitution with the view of helping regression, undermining nationalism and leading the country towards authoritarianism.

A meeting of the five parties in the ruling coalition on Monday also agreed to hold joint by-elections and National Assembly elections, according to the Rastriya Janamorcha. “We have a clear view that this is how regression will be defeated,” Poudel said.

Stating that it has been agreeing with other parties in the agitation or election as per the national need, the Rastriya Janamorcha has mentioned that it will implement the five-party agreement sincerely.

Though not participating in the government, the Rastriya Janamorcha has said that they support the current government and will oppose any wrongdoing. The Janamorcha also said that the coordination committee formed by the five-party meeting on Monday was not a mechanism for running the government but to make the work of the alliance systematic and effective.
