Kathmandu, October 8 Despite India’s consolation win over Namibia in their final match of the ICC T20 World Cup, they have already been knocked out of the group stage.
India beat Namibia by nine wickets in the final match of the group stage last night to finish third in their group two.
Namibia, who were invited to bat after losing the toss at the Dubai International Stadium, lost eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored 132 runs.
For Namibia, David Wiss was the top scorer with 26 runs while Indian bowler Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets for 16 runs.
Batting with a modest victory target of 133 runs, India completed the target with a loss of one wicket in 15.2 overs with a convincing 9-wicket victory over Namibia.
India’s openers Lokesh Rahul and Rohit Sharma were unbeaten on 54 and 56 respectively. India are out of third place with six points, including three wins and two losses in five games.
The first semi-final match will be played tomorrow after the group stage matches. The first semi-final match between Group 1 winners England and Group 2 runners-up New Zealand will be played tomorrow at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The game will start at 7.45 pm Nepali time.
