Kathmandu: Chief of Army Staff of Nepal, Maharthi Prabhuram Sharma has been conferred the rank of Chief of Army Staff by the Government of India. On Wednesday, Chief of Army Staff Sharma received the rank of Chief of Army Staff from Indian President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
In recognition of Sharma’s contribution to enhancing friendly relations and his admirable military prowess, his contribution to further strengthening the long-standing friendly relations with India has been accorded the rank of Honorary Chief of Army Staff.
The Indian Army has also praised Sharma for continuing his campaign to modernize the Nepal Army. Ministers including Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, diplomats of the Nepalese Embassy in Delhi, Indian Army Chief Manoj Mukunda Narwane and other military officials were present at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
It is customary for the commanders of Nepal and India to assume the rank of honorary commander in each other’s country. Earlier, Indian Army Chief Narwane had received the rank of Honorary Chief of Army Staff from President Vidyadevi Bhandari.
