Heavy rains in Sri Lanka have killed a minimum of 11 other folks

Kathmandu, October 8 Heavy rains in Sri Lanka have killed at least 11 people and affected more than 7,000.

According to the Disaster Management Center, Kegale in western central Sri Lanka has the highest number of deaths in the last 24 hours.

The meteorological department had issued ‘red alert’ in various areas on Monday as there is a possibility of rain and wind in the coming days. Landslides were also reported in 10 districts, including the capital Colombo.

The Sri Lankan navy said it had deployed relief teams to the flood-hit area to search and rescue in the event of a weather disaster.
