This highway of viral Pokhara on social media

October 24, Pokhara. A picture of a 6-lane road in front of the mountain range has recently gone viral on social media.

Attempts are being made to politicize not only where this road belongs, but also whose time it was built.

This road is under construction from Madhya Pahadi (Pushpalal) Highway to Pokhara Metropolitan City-25 from Yamdi to Ghattekhola. The 12-kilometer 6-lane road from Yamdi to Fedi Ghattekhola in the Kaski section of the Mid-Hills Highway looks attractive with paint.

Some have claimed that this road was built during the time of Baburam Bhattarai, Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and KP Sharma Oli.

In the National Transport Policy 2058 BS, the Mid-Hill Highway was envisioned as a project of national pride 20 years ago. The plan of Mid-Hill Highway was put forward as an alternative to the East-West Mahendra Highway with the idea of developing a new city connecting the hilly districts. It is said to be 1,879 km long from Chiobhanjyang of Panchthar to Jhulaghat of West Baitadi.

Division Engineer Narayan Dutta Bhandari informed that the road department is working regularly as per the old plan to look after the section from Lamjung to Baglung. According to him, the 12-kilometer road of Yamdi-Fedi section has six lanes but other places will have double lanes.

The Lamjung-Baglung section of the Mid-Hills Highway is 240 kilometers long. Eighty percent of the work has been completed. “The contract has not been signed due to the 30-kilometer road dispute in Kaski section. There is still 60 kilometers of pitch to Lamjung-Baglung, ‘said Bhandari.’ The Yamdi-Fedi road went viral without being completed. It also looks very attractive. ‘

The road is still being painted. The work of paving sidewalks and railings is still pending. Although the construction of the road section from Lamjung to Baglung started in 2073 BS, the construction agreement of Yamdi-Fedi road was signed in 2074 BS, said Division Engineer Bhandari.

The contract was awarded to Sharma & Company, 6 km from Yamdi and Swachchhand-Elite Joint Venture for the remaining 6 km.

The company has won the contract worth Rs. 875 million.

The contract has not been signed yet due to route dispute from Rupa Bhagwatitar to Yamdi of Kaski section.
