Finish of Sindhuli ban

October 25, Kathmandu. The restraining order issued in Sindhuli ended at 12 noon on Wednesday.

The district administration office had issued a restraining order on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Chief District Officer Ramesh Neupane informed that the ban has not been extended as the law and order situation in Sindhuli district is normal now.

The Kamalamai Municipality had invited UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of a kindergarten park near the sports ground at Sindhuligadhi on Wednesday and the unveiling of a half-length statue of BP Koirala and Pushpalal Shrestha.

However, leaders and cadres of the Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Center, CPN-Unified Socialist Party and Janata Samajwadi Party had protested against the appointment of Pokhrel as the chief guest.

Assessing the unpleasant situation, the District Administration Office had issued a restraining order in the area of Stall Bazaar, Junarchowk, Bus Park, Gwang Khola Bridge and Hospital Road from 11 am to 12 noon today.

An all-party meeting was held in the office of Chief District Officer Neupane but no agreement was reached. During the meeting, it was agreed to postpone the inauguration and unveiling of the statue and not to disrupt the victory celebrations at the fort.
