Nepali cricket crew to go back via bus from Bangladesh

The Nepali national women’s cricket team will return home from Dhaka, Bangladesh by bus (road). According to CAN, the women’s team, which left for Bangladesh on November 3 to train before the ICC T20 World Cup Asia qualifiers, is preparing to return to Nepal by bus.

The Nepali team started returning to the bus after missing the return flight to Kathmandu at 9 am on Thursday due to non-compliance with Corona protocol. Prashant Bikram Malla, acting secretary of the Nepal Cricket Association (NCA), informed that the Nepali women’s team will arrive in Jhapa by bus from Dhaka, Bangladesh via India.

The Nepali women’s team, which won three T20 series 2-1 with Bangladesh Krira Shiksha Pratisthan (BKSP), will arrive in Nepal by Friday. The flight was canceled as the Nepali women’s cricket team was returning home without corona test PCR test. CAN has stated that it will investigate the incident and ask the team management for clarification.

The next flight from Bangladesh to Nepal is only on Sunday. But on Sunday, the Nepali women’s team has cut the ticket for the tour of Qatar. Therefore, Prashant informed that he was coming by bus today.

The Nepali team will play three T20I series against Qatar on November 20, November 1 and 2 (November 16, 17 and 18). This will be the first T20I series to be played by a Nepali women’s team. After that, the Nepali team is scheduled to leave for UAE on November 19.

The T20 World Cup Asia qualifiers will be held from November 6 to 12 (November 22 to 28). For the T20 World Cup to be held in South Africa in 2023, six nations including Nepal are going to play Asia selection in UAE for global selection. Six countries including Nepal, Bhutan, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Malaysia and UAE are participating in the selection. One team will reach the global selection from five regions. The top two teams from the 2022 global selection will qualify for the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa.
