Police interference within the easiest premises is reprehensible: Nepal Legislation Society

October 25, Kathmandu. Nepal Law Society has protested against the police intervention against the legal practitioners in the Supreme Court premises.

Chairman Tirthaman Shakya issued a statement on Thursday condemning the police intervention in the Supreme Court premises.

This is the first time in the history of Nepal’s judiciary that the police have intervened in the Supreme Court premises. “Reducing such a heinous incident is a heinous act that weakens the people’s faith in the judiciary.

The law society has also expressed solidarity with the movement of Nepal Bar Association demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra. “Civil society and the country’s intelligentsia are in favor of the resignation of the Chief Justice. The Nepal Law Society expresses solidarity towards this, ”said Chairman Shakya in a statement.

In order to resolve this dispute within the court and to make the court accessible to the people, the law society has stated that the Chief Justice should give judgment on all the issues raised now. “For this, the Nepal Law Society heartily calls upon the Supreme Court to form a committee of judges to make the facts public and to maintain the people’s faith by ending the existing confusion,” the statement said.
