Scooter driving force killed in truck crash in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: A scooter driver has died after being hit by a truck at Gwarko in the capital Kathmandu. The deceased has been identified as Sopnil Lama, a scooter driver of Kavre.

Lama, who was critically injured in the truck crash, was taken to B&B Hospital for treatment. However, the doctor declared him dead as soon as he was rushed to the hospital, according to the Metropolitan Police Circle, Satdobato.

Similarly, a person was killed in a bus accident at Helambu-7 Echok in Sindhupalchowk district. The deceased has been identified as Mahila Pasang Tamang, 55, of Helambu-3, Palchowk.

According to the Area Police Office, Helambu, five persons were injured and rescued and sent to Dhulikhel Hospital for treatment. According to Area Police Office, Helmbu, Deputy Inspector of Police Sunil Thapa, the bus driver has been taken under control and an investigation has been started into the accident. Police have a preliminary estimate that the accident happened due to brake failure.

Earlier, a person was killed when a microbus heading to Kathmandu from the district headquarters Chautara under the Arani Highway met with an accident at Pokharebesi of Sangachokgadhi Municipality-11 on Tuesday.
