Candidature registration in Congress even ahead of the inauguration of the Normal Conference


October 28, Kathmandu. The election process of the Central Working Committee under the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress is scheduled to start on December 7.

Though the inauguration of the party’s general convention will be held on December 8, the registration of candidates will start from December 7, according to the Central Election Committee. The Congress General Convention is being held in Kathmandu from 24 to 26 November. Congress has proposed to register the candidature of the Central Working Committee on December 7.

Senior Advocate Gopal Krishna Ghimire, a member of the Election Committee, informed that the election process would start before the inauguration of the General Convention due to lack of time.

“We have fixed the date of the general convention from 24th to 26th. Voting will take place on the 25th. Before that, the voter list had to be made public. After that, the final list had to be published. We have to publish a large number of ballot papers, ‘he told online news. We are preparing to start voting from the morning of the 25th.

About 4500 delegates to the General Convention will select the new working committee of the Congress. The Congress constitution states that the Central Working Committee will have 167 members. 134 central members will be elected from the general convention and 33 will be nominated by the chairperson.
