Satellite tv for pc census claims in Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiadhura, however no directions to district

Biradatta Bhatt / Darchula: The government is claiming that the census will be conducted by satellite in Beas Gaonpalika-1 Kuti, Nabhi and Gunji of Darchula in Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura areas included in the new map of Nepal.

The census has not even started in Tinkar and Chhangru of the same ward.

The district has not been given any instructions for the census in Kuti, Nabhi and Gunji while the enumerators have not been able to reach the rest of the villages for the census. The Indian administration has not given permission to use Nepali roads to reach Nepali villages.

Chief of the Census Office Darchula Padma Raj Pandey expressed ignorance about the census in Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura areas. He said that no instruction has been received in this regard.

Even when the households are listed for the national census, the households in Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura areas are not listed. “It was not allowed to go to the area above Chhangru-Tinkar. The households have not been listed even before that,” said Pandey, a census official.

Surveillance at the border bridge targeting the census

The Indian SSB has stepped up its surveillance on Nepali employees and citizens at the border bridge of Darchula headquarters entering Darchula, India. The Indian security forces have become vigilant as the census in villages in Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura areas is being discussed in the Nepali media.

Keshabaraj Ojha, head of the education department, who returned to Beas village via Indian route last Friday, said that the SSB interrogated him at the border bridge of Dharchula. The census is being conducted in Nepal from 25 October.
