October 28, Kathmandu. The 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress to be held in Kathmandu from December 8 to 9 will only select the leadership. Congress has decided to hold a separate legislative convention to decide the party’s policy and program.
A meeting of Nepali Congress office bearers and former office bearers held on Sunday has decided to hold separate conventions for leadership selection and policy making. It has been alleged that the General Convention of the Nepali Congress has focused only on the selection of the leadership and the discussion on ideas has been overshadowed.
Congress spokesperson Bishwaprakash Sharma informed that a proposal has been tabled at the Central Committee meeting to select the leadership from the General Convention to be held from December 8 to 9 and the new working committee to convene the Legislative Assembly.
He said, “The General Convention has only selected the leadership. Considering the criticism that there is no debate on the policy and program, the General Convention will now select the leadership.
The Legislative Assembly will decide the future policy and program of the party. The meeting of the NC Central Working Committee is underway at the residence of Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha.
