A sit-in within the management difficult the arrest of former lawmaker Badshah


October 29, Kathmandu. Rights activists have staged a sit-in in the administration demanding the arrest of former lawmaker Badshah Kurmi in the Nirmala Kurmi case in Banke. Rights activists have staged a sit-in at the District Administration Office, Banke, saying that the administration has protected the main accused Kurmi.

Human rights activist Khan said that they had to sit in a sit-in demanding justice as the administration protected the main accused Kurmi. The protesting women carried placards with photos of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister and demanded to use the pen for justice.

They also demanded that the report be made public stating that no action has been taken as per the findings of the government-formed inquiry committee. Khal says, “Nirmala Kurmi incident should be investigated as soon as possible and the truth should be made public.”

The District Police Office, Banke said that seven persons involved in the incident have been arrested and there is no legal basis to arrest Badshah. He has already given a statement saying that he was released on bail and the police has been saying that he should not be arrested.
