Inspection of Tanahu Hydropower Venture via Kulman Ghising


Damauli, Nov. 12: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Executive Director Kulman Ghising on Sunday inspected the Tanahu Hydropower Project. While inspecting the project under construction in Rishing Gaonpalika-1, Jhaputar of Tanahu, Ghising urged to complete the construction work of the project one year ahead of schedule.

“The project should be completed within the stipulated time with the participation of important donors and set an example,” Ghising said. He stressed on the need to work together.

Ghising said that the construction work of the dam was delayed and directed to give priority to it. Managing Director of Tanahu Hydropower Kiran Shrestha briefed Executive Director Ghising about the progress of the project. The project is continuing the work of all the three packages.

Under Package 1, preparations have been started for river diversion, dam construction and other works. The project had signed an agreement with Song Da Corporation, Vietnam-Kalika Construction Pvt. Ltd. Nepal JV for the work.

After the cancellation of the purchase agreement with the construction company CMC de Ravenna, Italy for the construction of Package 1 (Headworks) of the project on 15 September 2075 BS, the company had again called for bids on 12 April 2076 BS. The company had rejected all the bids as none of the technical bids received in the bidding process was essentially effective.

Project Chief Achyut Ghimire informed that construction of mobile crusher plant and river crossing is underway for the work under Package 1. Sino Hydro is working underground under Package 2. Accordingly, work is being done in five places at present. According to project chief Ghimire, work including powerhouse, work tunnel and search tank is underway. The construction work of transmission line under package 3 has also gained momentum.रासस / File Photo
