The Prakash Dahal Memorial Second Men’s and Women’s National Boxing Championship has started from today. On the first day of the competition, Vijay Thapa of Naxal won the men’s 60 kg.
In the competition organized by Nepal Boxing Association and Prakash Dahal Memorial Foundation, Vijay defeated Bipin Gopali of Thankot to win the first place. In the 60 kg event, BTFC’s Mausam Rana Magar stunned APF’s Vikram Pariyar, Kaski’s Saugat Kumal stunned KYBC’s Nirmal Subedi and Nepal Army ‘B’ Sujan Sunari Magar stunned Ramechhap’s Suresh Kumar Bhandari.
In the men’s 48 kg category, Laxman Rai of Udayapur defeated Darshan Gurung of VPBC and Saroj Gurung of Chitwan defeated Mohan Gurung of Surkhet. In the men’s 51 kg category, Subash Tamang of Army defeated Chiranjivi Khadka of Bajura. In the women’s 48 kg category, Maya Khatri of Banke defeated Rita Dharla of Nepal Police. In the women’s 51 kg category, Jayanti Mainali of Army ‘B’ defeated Oman Gurung of VPBC.
Youth and Sports Minister Maheshwar Jung Gahatraj inaugurated the competition in the middle of a program. On the occasion, Vice President of National Sports Council (NSC) Shiva Koirala, President of Nepal Boxing Association Ram Awale, Department of Training and Training, Director of Rakhep Arjun Vik, National Team Preparation, Director of Rakhep Mahendra Rai and others were present.
