30 December, Kathmandu. The Nepal Bar Association has decided to continue the agitation demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra. He also said that if they do not resign by December 16, they will also protest in 18 places where the High Court is sitting.
Officials of the Nepal Bar and the Supreme Bar had a discussion with 13 judges of the Supreme Court on Tuesday. A subsequent meeting of the Bar has decided to continue the agitation in the Supreme Court premises till November 19.
If Jabra does not resign by then, it has been decided to hold protests in 18 places including the High Court and the High Court.
The meeting also decided that Chief Justice Jabra would not participate in the public event, said Lilamani Poudyal, general secretary of the Bar Association.
According to him, the meeting has requested the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to hold a meeting of the Constitutional Council besides Chief Justice Jabra and take initiative for the exit. It has also decided to hand over a memorandum to the leaders of the parties in the parliament on the 3rd, urging them to take initiative to end the stalemate in the court.
