Tara Baral’s workforce arrested for seeking to cross on starvation strike in fortify of Leader Justice

Kathmandu: A group including Tara Baral, who had been demanding the opening of a court in support of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra, was arrested from Bhadrakali today. Kathmandu Metropolitan Police has arrested five people, including Baral, while they were on a hunger strike at a people’s boat near Bhadrakali Temple. They are kept in Bhrikuti Mandap.

The Baral group has been staging sit-ins and demonstrations at the Supreme Court premises and the Nepal Bar Association premises demanding that the judges should return to the courtroom and the service recipients should get services. Police have also been arresting and removing them.

Youth’s motorcycle rally against the bandh
Youths have taken out motorcycle-yali in Damauli this morning in protest of Nepal Bandh. Civil society youths at Vyas-5 have taken out a motorcycle yali in Damauli Bazaar in protest of the bandh.

The youths had gathered with the banner of Nepal with the slogan ‘Let’s not close Nepal, give food to the people, let’s return the price hike’. It started from Chapaghat, passed through Yali Main Chowk, Bhorletar Chowk, Ganesh Man Chowk, Malpotline, Ansan Chowk and ended at Traffic Chowk. Himal Shrestha of the civil society informed that the strike was called off peacefully.

13 protesters under control

Police have arrested 13 protesters from Damauli, 11 from Dumre and two from Dumre. According to police, Niru Thapa, a member of the National Conference Committee of Magar Mukti Morcha and a member of a youth organization were arrested from Dumre Bazaar in Tanahu.

Earlier in the morning, CPN (Maoist) district secretary Atom, Beas Nagar in-charge Om Pant, Mazdoor district chairman Himal Khadka and Akhil Krantikari district secretary Shiva Sadashankar were arrested from Damauli Bazaar. Markets in various places including Damauli are closed due to Nepal Bandh. Vehicles are in short supply. Deputy Superintendent of Police Yuvraj Timilsina informed that the police provided security to the vehicles. He said that no untoward incident has taken place so far during the Nepal Bandh.
