Finance Minister Sharma’s directive to spend 30 % of the funds inside Pus

Kathmandu, Dec. 16: Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has instructed all the ministry officials to spend 30 percent of the budget of their respective ministries by January.

In an inter-ministerial discussion held at the Ministry of Finance today on the issue of increasing capital expenditure, he said that the lack of capital expenditure has also affected liquidity and directed the ministries to spend on development as soon as possible. “No ministry can delay the implementation of the budget, not even the finance ministry. 30 percent of the budget allocated for its ministry should have been spent within this month,” said Finance Minister Sharma.

He warned that the budget would be reimbursed if it was found that the expenditure could not be met during the quarterly review of the budget expenditure. He said that the budget would be transferred to the places where the expenditure would be incurred at the state and local level if there was a situation of non-spending on time.

In a different context, Minister Sharma directed the Ministry of Finance to send a reply within three days of receiving the file. He has given such instructions warning all to avoid administrative hassle and delay.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Renukumari Yadav, Minister for Health Virodh Khatiwada and Minister for Drinking Water Umakanta Chaudhary were present at the discussion.
