Pakistan’s Union Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday said Prime Minister Imran Khan would become a billionaire if he divorced his first wife and British-born Jamie Goldsmith if he was greedy for money. Imran Khan was accused by retired Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed, a former leader of his own party, of taking money from party leaders for his household expenses.
He accused Jahangir Khan, a leader who has now split from the party, of paying Rs 5 million a month for Imran Khan’s household expenses. Taking a firm stand on his serious allegations, the Imran Khan government has announced to file a defamation suit against the retired judge.
At the press conference, Fawad Chaudhry said that if Imran Khan was greedy for money, he would have become a billionaire after divorcing his first wife, Jemima, as he had said that according to British law, he would get half of his wealth after divorcing Jemima.
The Pakistani minister said, “Imran Khan’s first wife Jamie was from a very rich family. If Imran Khan was greedy for the same amount of money, he would have to spend Rs 50-50 lakh per month, then he would have 50 per cent share in the property of that family. If he had taken 50 percent share, he would have become a billionaire today.
At the press conference, Fawad Chaudhry called Wajihuddin Ahmed a “joker” and said that when Imran Khan was the captain, the entire Pakistan cricket team had a conspiracy when they won the game against India, but Imran Khan liked the conspiracy.
Regarding Ahmed’s allegations, the Imran Khan government will file a defamation suit against him, Fawad Chaudhry told a news conference. He also said that the government would take action against the channel which broadcast Wajihuddin Ahmed’s statement without any evidence.
“We have decided to file a defamation suit against Wajihuddin Ahmed,” he said. We also inform the television channels which broadcast his allegations on their television channels without any evidence.
Speaking on a Pakistani TV program, retired Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed claimed that Jahangir Khan used to pay Rs 5 million every month to run Imran Khan’s luxurious house in Bani Gala, Islamabad. He said that Imran Khan was not an honest person and party leaders would cover his expenses.
In a TV program, Ahmed had said, “In the beginning, people like Jahangir Tarin used to pay Rs 3 million to run a house. Then it happened that Rs 3 million did not work and Rs 5 million was given there. I would like to reiterate that how can a person who does not even have his own shoe lace be honest? ‘
When the matter came to a head, Jahangir Tarin tweeted in his explanation in which he wrote, ‘I have to tell the truth despite the current state of my relationship with Imran Khan. I did my best to help PTI in building a new Pakistan, but I did not pay a penny for Imran Khan’s household expenses.
