7 Dec, Butwal. Rupandehi-based online journalist Topraj Sharma has been awarded the Outstanding Education Journalism Award.
Sharma has been awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000 from the Ram Bahadur Milan Kumari Scholarship Retirement Fund of Rs 2 million set up by educationist Ram Kaji Gurung at Kalika Anthropology High School, Butwal.
On the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the school, the fundraiser Ram Kaji Gurung, his wife Min Kumari Gurung, state assembly member Bhoj Prasad Shrestha and school president Hom Bahadur Galami presented the award with certificates.
The fund set up by Gurung has been giving Rs 90,000 every year to those who excel in class 12, Rs 50,000 to those who excel in SEE and Rs 20,000 every year to 10 poor and deserving students.
Similarly, the school has given a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each to TV Today’s correspondent Chandra Kant Khanal and Mukti FM’s Kalpana Tiwari.
Former principal of the school Ghanshyam Pathak has been honored with Mahaujjawal Kalika Deep Medal on the occasion.
