According to a report published in the Chinese media on Wednesday, no foreign association or official will be allowed to publish any information or material about religious rituals in China online. The South China Morning Post reports that such bodies must obtain permission from Chinese religious regulators to broadcast and publish such material.

The decision comes two weeks after the government convened a religious conference in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping aimed at streamlining religious affairs in China. It is said that the government made the decision for the sake of China’s internal security.Photo: Agency
