A fatal accident has occurred at a stadium in Cameroon, the host of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The accident happened outside a stadium on the outskirts of the Cambrian capital. Six people died in the accident. Some others have been injured.
Video footage posted on social media shows football fans struggling to enter the Paul Biya Stadium during Africa Cup of Nations games.
Cameroon’s central governor Nasri Paul Biya told the Associated Press that the death toll could rise further. Due to the ban on Kovid-19 in the stadium with a capacity of 60,000, only 80 percent of the spectators had to be allowed.
According to sports officials, 50 thousand people tried to enter the stadium. Despite the accident, the last 16 matches were played. Hosts Cameroon beat Comoros 2-1 to reach the last eight.
